Falcon Ridge Golf Course in Mesquite, Nevada is seeking an experienced Golf Course Superintendent to oversee golf course maintenance operations and lead the maintenance team in providing safe, consistent, and high-quality course conditions. The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for turf care, irrigation and water management, equipment maintenance, budgeting, staff leadership, regulatory compliance, and long-term maintenance planning. This position works closely with management and other departments to support daily play, tournaments, events, and the overall guest experience. Experience managing turf in a desert or high-heat climate is strongly preferred, including irrigation scheduling, water-use efficiency, heat-stress mitigation, overseeding, and seasonal transition planning.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, cart paths, landscaped areas, irrigation systems, and maintenance facilities.
• Plan and direct daily, seasonal, and annual maintenance programs, including mowing, fertilization, pest control, cultural practices, overseeding, and seasonal transition.
• Diagnose turf, irrigation, equipment, and course condition issues and determine appropriate corrective action.
• Manage irrigation systems, wells, pumps, automatic controls, drainage systems, and water-use practices to support turf health and playability in a desert climate.
• Coordinate maintenance around daily play, tournaments, events, weather conditions, and operational needs.
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate maintenance staff while maintaining clear expectations, accountability, and safe work practices.
• Procure supplies, parts, materials, fertilizers, chemicals, pesticides, and rental equipment within budget guidelines.
• Manage the golf course maintenance budget, including labor, supplies, chemicals, equipment, repairs, capital needs, and cost-control planning.
• Review or approve scheduling, payroll, purchase orders, invoices, and maintenance records in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate records related to labor, expenses, equipment, chemicals, weather, safety, and maintenance operations.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable pesticide, fertilizer, chemical storage, safety, environmental, and workplace regulations.
• Communicate professionally with management, staff, vendors, golfers, and community contacts.
Qualifications:
• Experience in golf course management, turf culture, and course maintenance operations required.
• Experience managing turf in a desert, arid, or high-heat climate strongly preferred.
• Minimum two-year degree in turfgrass science, agronomy, horticulture, plant/soil science, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
• GCSAA membership in good standing preferred.
• Certified and/or licensed in pesticide usage, or ability to obtain required licensing.
• Strong knowledge of golf course construction, turf establishment, irrigation, drainage, fertilizers, soil conditioners, pest diagnosis, and turf maintenance practices.
• Experience developing, managing, and tracking department budgets.
• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of computer programs, maintenance recordkeeping, irrigation control systems, payroll/scheduling tools, and budget tracking preferred.
• Familiarity with the game of golf and the standards expected by daily-fee, resort, group, and tournament players.
• Valid driver’s license.

Work Schedule & Physical Expectations:
This position requires the ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed based on weather, course conditions, projects, tournaments, seasonal demands, and operational needs. The Golf Course Superintendent must be able to work both indoors and outdoors, including in high-heat desert conditions, and perform or oversee physically demanding golf course maintenance work as needed.
