Facilities Management (FM) provides maintenance, grounds, and custodial services to the entire campus. FM serves as a partner with Contract Colleges, Endowed, and Student and Campus Life.
As a key steward of the University?s facilities, FMis responsible forfacility assessments, skilled trades, general construction, building care, grounds, recycling, asbestos, and the management of planned, corrective, and preventive maintenance.

Assist Journeyperson Control Technician in installing and troubleshooting pneumatic and direct digitalbuilding management systems, as well as electronic HVAC temperature controls, within university facilities.Gain knowledge and experience during the training period. Upon successful completion of apprenticeship,employeewill be classified as a Journeyperson Control Technician.
This is a benefits eligible, union position within the BTC. The starting pay rate is $20.86/hourand depends on apprentice year and trade.

Werequirethese qualifications:
Experience modeling values that support inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Mechanical aptitude for equipment installation,repairand maintenance.
Ability toacquirefamiliarity and/or knowledge of all aspects of the controls field.
Excellent verbal andwritten skills, customer relations skills, and the ability to work in a team environment.
Must belong to thelocal Electricians ORPlumbers Union, orbe able to join within30 daysafter starting employment at Cornell.
Must have andmaintaina valid driver?s license; may berequiredtooperatea motor vehicle (your ownvehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from job sites.
Ability tomaintaina safe work environment. Must be able to wear respirator and other employer-providedsafety and PPE. Risk exposure to asbestos, toxic vapors, heat, cold, height and accumulated dirt.
Availabilityto workovertime as duties require, including weekends.
Possibility of shift work.
Able to ascend and descendheights and have agility and freedom of movement.
Climb stairs and ladders.
Able to move easily in confinedspaces.
Ability to wear a respirator and other employer-provided safety equipment.
Ability to lift and/or move 50 pounds.
You will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications:
Work experience in the electrical/control field and formal training beyond high school strongly desired.
Experience with computershelpful.
