The Serviceman will troubleshoot, service, and perform maintenance on the Cooperative's distribution plant and equipment. This position primarily works independently within a designated service territory during regular hours and serves as the lead lineman during after-hours callouts for restoration and repairs. An individual in this role shall have a high degree of situational awareness and must possess the training, knowledge, and experience to work safely with no supervision on de-energized and energized electrical apparatus and must possess the skills equal to a Journeyman Lineman. This position will primarily serve the southern portion of our service territory, including areas such as Earle, Lepanto, and Marked Tree.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance Service Orders
Install, repair, and maintain work for right-of-way (ROW), security lights, transformers, surge protectors, meter loops, and other activities specific to the distribution system.
Respond and resolve voltage concerns.
Perform distribution plant inspections.
Connect and disconnect 1 and 3-phase services.
Consult with Arkansas 811 and ARKUPS on locates.
Assist, monitor, and coordinate ROW activities within service area.
Review and process ROW and other Contractors' time sheets and bills for accuracy.
Work Orders
Connect and disconnect electric services.
Install and remove security lights.
Install and remove transformers.
Assist with construction work orders.
Perform maintenance to the distribution plant.
Other Related Duties
Assist with the training of Apprentice Lineman.
Perform outage restoration on distribution and transmission lines.
Perform switch orders.
Perform damage assessment and/or Birddog in an emergency or calamity.
Recommend improvements that can be made in practices, methods, processes, and procedures within the area of this job responsibility.
Will properly use and keep in good condition all tools and equipment.
Perform all other duties as assigned or directed.
Attend safety meetings.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Journeyman Lineman Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of Rural Utilities Service (RUS) construction specifications and units and the ability to apply them without supervision.
Knowledge of all Craighead Electric, Federal, State, and Arkansas Public Service Commission (APSC), safety rules and regulations.
Knowledge of transmission lines, substations, and distribution line specifications and system operations.
Knowledge of substation and major feeder locations.
Skill and proficiency in the use of computers, copiers, calculators, and Microsoft Office Platforms.
Skill in verbal and written communication.
Skill in time management, organization, and attention to detail.
Skill in analytical and critical thinking for analyzing complex problems, evaluating options, and developing resolutions.
Ability to operate various types of industry-specific equipment and tools.
Ability to troubleshoot distribution plant.

Special Requirements
Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with no restrictions.
Will be subject to 24-hour call out.
Will participate in an on-call rotation.
Must reside within a reasonable distance from the office.
Must be able to work long shifts during emergencies and outage restoration events.
Ability to obtain First aid and CPR certification within six (6) months of employment.
Ability to obtain Bucket Truck Self Rescue certification within six (6) months of employment.
Ability to obtain Forklift certification within six (6) months of employment.
Working Conditions and Mental or Physical Requirements

The employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, risk of electrical shock; continuously exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Work is performed outside and in all types of weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear; and frequently required to climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; continuously lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; and depth perception. Person in this position must be available to work outages, including irregular hours and emergency call-out.
