The 1st Class Line Technician performs numerous duties involved in the maintenance and construction of overhead and underground lines in both energized and de-energized states. The work often involves climbing poles and/or working out of a bucket truck when installing transformers, capacitors, regulators or other line equipment. The 1st Class Line Technician follows Cooperative, NEC, NESC, REA, OSHA and state and other regulatory agency rules and procedures in the conduct of their work. They have a working knowledge of the Cooperative's transmission and distribution system and of the line equipment which they install and maintain. The 1st Class Line Technician acts as lead on call out for outages on the duty crew.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Established experience as a 2^nd Class Line Technician
• Completion of Hotline IV
• Will be certified in First Aid and CPR/AED proficiency
• Required to take annual training in fire extinguisher use, hearing conservation, blood borne pathogen controls, and hazard communication
• Ability to understand and follow Cooperative maps, Cooperative Safety Manual, work orders, staking sheets, and any type of Cooperative forms related to work being performed
• Must have a thorough knowledge of the Cooperative's service area and transmission and distribution system
• Ability to complete Cooperative forms related to work being performed that may be in electronic and/or paper form
• Must have a thorough knowledge of the installation and operation of transformers, wiring of transformer banks, regulators, capacitors, and other electrical equipment as well as all aspects of line construction
• Must demonstrate thorough knowledge of line and/or substation switching procedures
• Must demonstrate trouble shooting abilities for jobs encountered on duty call-out
• Must stay abreast of Coop policies
• Must take LCRA/STEC instruction on Transmission Switching
• Ability to provide on-the-job training to Line Technician trainees or other subordinates and helpers
• Ability to attend vendor schools, special training and safety sessions as assigned such as hot glove/energized line training and pole top rescue
• Ability to attend in-house training classes in preparation for job progression
• Must demonstrate job knowledge to advance to the next level in job progression through competency assessments and/or performance evaluation
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Maintains ability to administer first aid and CPR, lock out tag out procedures and to perform pole top and bucket truck rescue within four minutes
• Resides within a reasonable response time distance to service area
