Manhattan University seeks qualified and engaging Pre-College Adjunct Instructors to teach summer courses for high-school students (grades 9-12) as part of its Pre-College Summer Program. Courses are designed to provide academically rigorous higher education learning experiences while introducing students to disciplinary foundations, applied skills, and career pathways.
Adjunct Instructors are responsible for course design, instruction, student engagement, and assessment in a youth-centered learning environment.
All courses are delivered in-person on campus at Manhattan University.
Start: Various start dates beginning July 6, 2026 through August 13, 2026 Duration: Most programs run one week only. Hours for each program will vary and be provided with assignments.
Instruction & Curriculum:
Design and deliver assigned pre-college course(s) aligned with program learning outcomes and Manhattan University academic standards.
Prepare engaging, age-appropriate, and inclusive lessons for high-school students.
Integrate experiential learning, discussions, applied projects, and real-world examples.
Adapt instructional methods to support diverse learning styles and academic backgrounds.
Student Engagement & Support:
Foster a supportive, respectful, and academically challenging classroom environment.
Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback to students.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while supporting student development.
A Master's degree in the relevant discipline or a closely related field is preferred; alternatively, a Bachelor's degree combined with substantial professional experience in the subject area will be considered
Prior teaching experience preferred
Excellent communication and presentation abilities
Demonstrated capacity to engage, motivate, and effectively manage high school students within a structured learning environment
