What We Are Looking For

This position provides support within academic support services at Baylor University, and is responsible for advising, monitoring, and tracking academic progress of student-athletes along with the coordination tutorial support for student-athletes. The ability to interact with a wide range of constituents including student-athletes, coaches and Athletics staff, faculty, and campus partners is essential. The ideal candidate must have prior intercollegiate athletics advising experience.

A Bachelor's Degree, one year of relevant experience, and a Christian faith are required. A Master's Degree and 2-3 years of relevant experience are preferred.

All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

What You Will Do

• Academic Advising (Two Separate Roles: Football and Olympic Sports): Direct contact with coaches and student-athletes (personal, academic and career advising; changing schedules, assisting in procedural matters, and verifying that classes meet degree requirements as well as NCAA eligibility requirements). Monitor academic eligibility of student-athletes. Communicate with supervisor and Athletics Compliance Office any pertinent information.

• Academic Liaison: Communicate with campus advisors, professors, and other faculty relating to requirements, progress, and the academic standing of the assigned student-athletes.

• Tutorial or Learning Support (Assistant Director Duties): Coordinate daily adjustments to scheduled academic sessions, including entering and communicating cancellations, time adjustments, and requests for additional support. Manage and conduct observations of student-employee Mentors and Tutors and providing constructive feedback. Format and disseminate daily academic session reports. Work with a small caseload of students if skillset is aligned with learning support.

• Other Duties: Assist in requiring all intercollegiate athletic programs to maintain compliance with Baylor University policies and procedures, as well as Big 12 conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Communicate immediately any possible NCAA infractions to the Athletic Compliance staff.
