Situated on the scenic north shore of Flathead Lake, Eagle Bend Golf Club is a private, 27-hole championship golf course located in Montana’s Flathead Valley. From tee to green, the three distinct nines accentuate the beauty of sweeping mountain ranges, water, and trees. We take great pride in our exceptional playing conditions and layout. Eagle Bend’s first nine holes were designed by William Hull and opened in 1984, and four years later, another nine holes were added closer to the lake. Eagle Bend was awarded the USGA Public Links Championship in 1994. Shortly thereafter, Jack Nicklaus completed the construction of a third nine. In June of 2022, Eagle Bend celebrated the grand opening of a new clubhouse.

This role is responsible for overall golf course maintenance and agronomic operations, budget, personnel, and long-term course improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Works closely with the Director of Golf on any issues related to golf course maintenance.
Prepares and maintains the annual golf course maintenance budget and long-term course improvement plans.
Recruits, supervises, and retains maintenance staff. Conducts employee performance evaluations and exercises disciplinary action when necessary.
Plans and directs maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
Supervises the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants as needed.
Manages a smart and efficient water usage tracking plan and oversees irrigation systems and ponds.
Schedules maintenance practices around member play and outings to maximize efficiency and minimize disruptions to the membership.
Works closely with the course’s head mechanic to ensure that all maintenance equipment is properly maintained.
Procures supplies and materials within budgetary limitations.
Keeps record of annual maintenance activities and costs and is willing to share reports upon request.
Implements sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors, when possible.
Reconciles and provides timely coding of all invoices, payroll, and other required documents.
Coordinates snow removal during the season, if needed, and throughout off-season months.
Ensures all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government and environmental regulations.
Ensures that they and all associates obtain proper training and/or licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within state and federal regulations. Addresses directly all real or perceived environmental concerns.
Ensures proper mixing, calibration, and application of all chemical/fertilizers used on the course.
Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
Incorporates safe work practices in job performance, full compliance to OSHA standards.
Provides periodic progress reports to the Director of Golf regarding newly established and ongoing course projects.
Ensures general maintenance, care, and upkeep of all buildings (except clubhouse) on the property and their surrounds.
Ensures general maintenance, care, and upkeep of all parking areas on the property and their surrounds.
Knowledge & Skills Required:
Knowledge of management and maintenance of greens, fairways, and roughs.
Knowledge of use and operating standards of equipment and tools used in golf course construction and maintenance work.
Skill in recruiting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating, and motivating personnel.
Interpersonal skill to resolve conflict and work with supervisors, officials, employees, members, and the general public.
Knowledge of safe use, mixing, and application of chemicals and commercial products.
Knowledge of the game of golf, golf rules, and methods of play.
Ability to anticipate personnel, equipment, and material requirements related to golf course maintenance and repair assignments.
Ability and knowledge to lay out irrigation patterns, drainage patterns, construct tees, and/or greens.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Degree preference in agronomy/ horticulture/ plant/soil science)
