This role has the option to be a blend of remote and onsite work if department and business needs allow and with approval from direct supervision. Our hybrid remote work schedule combines three (3) days on premises with up to two (2) days remote.
Key Roles
This position is responsible for coordinating the inspection and maintenance of transmission lines and line equipment in the EKPC service territory to ensure reliable service to the member cooperatives in a safe and cost-effective manner. In addition, this position provides customer service in regards to power delivery maintenance to the member cooperatives in the service center territories. This position oversees, guides, motivates, and directs the activities of the work group on a regular basis. In addition, this position maintains overall authority and accountability for the work group, and provides leadership to ensure team goals are accomplished to achieve high performance results.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for line maintenance activities across the EKPC service territory.
Serves as coordinator between EKPC dispatch and emergency staff during line outages.
Develops the team to become safety conscious by emphasizing safety and encouraging team members to accept personal responsibility for safety.
Provides customer service in regards to power delivery maintenance to member cooperatives in each of the service center territories.
Serves as a primary contact between assigned member cooperatives and EKPC for maintenance activities.
Coordinates and participates in responding to requests from member cooperatives.
Serves as secondary contact for trouble calls across service territory; coordinates and participates in responding to calls.
Develops standard line maintenance best practice procedures; assists with training and implementing across all service territories.
Participates on cross-functional work teams to make process improvements.
Handles problematic property damage claims with assistance from ROW Supervisor, as needed.
Facilitates acquisition, quality control, and invoice approval of contract services.
Supports team members in accomplishing work tasks by obtaining materials/resources to complete job, as necessary.
Coordinates and participates in training member cooperatives on safe transmission procedures.
Works in the field as needed to accomplish team goals. Oversees major projects and scheduled outages.
Plans, develops, and monitors annual line maintenance schedule for EKPC transmission system.
Studies outage reports to determine root cause and recommend system upgrades or changes to address problems.
Participates in interviewing and selection process of team members.
Plans and coordinates workflow within the work group and ensures sufficient resources and training necessary to perform work assigned to group.
Develops and oversees the annual work plan and capital and operating budgets.
Works with PD Trainer to develop team training plans and assists with in-house training on line maintenance items.
Reviews maintenance schedules, test reports, equipment specifications, and other information to determine effectiveness of maintenance procedures is maximized and takes corrective action as necessary.
Manages the vehicle and equipment fleet assigned to the line maintenance crews.
Participates in human resources related activities including skill-based testing, compensation, performance management, disciplinary actions, staffing needs, etc.
Coordinates the performance management process for team members and provides feedback to maximizing employee performance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Key Requirements
Education and Certifications / Licenses: Associate’s degree in related area. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
Experience: Seven (7) years of related experience. Experience working in a leadership capacity is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledgeable regarding all industry related safety equipment, procedures, and regulations.
Thorough understanding of schematic drawings, technical manuals, and instruction and operation booklets.
Thorough knowledge of line construction and maintenance activities.
Must possess general electrical and mechanical skills.
Familiar with the name and geographic location of all substations and line sections in service territory.
Ability to read and understand one-line diagrams, switching procedures and interconnections with other generation systems.
Strong leadership skills with proven ability to manage, develop, and motivate staff.
Effectively delegates work amongst staff, manages time, and adheres to deadlines.
Provides thorough and timely communication to leadership and staff.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization, including external contacts.

This position is on-call. Work outside normal working hours may be required.
Must live within thirty (30) minutes driving time of service center or other agreed upon location within service center territory.
Required to work in and around energized facilities and trips to the field may require walking and working on uneven terrain.
Regular lifting up to ten (10) pounds and occasional lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
Regular climbing and work at heights on ladders and stairs required.
Must maintain valid driver's license.
Must wear personal protective equipment as appropriate.
