The Bunker Hill Community College Performing Arts Department is seeking a dedicated and experienced Adjunct Professor of Theatre to teach THR 109: Play Production in Spring 2025. The successful candidate will play a vital role in shaping students' understanding of stagecraft while collaborating with the spring black-box production for experiential learning opportunities.
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging and comprehensive instruction in Theatrical Stagecraft, emphasizing project-based learning and safety practices in technical theatre.
Develop a syllabus that addresses the fundamental aspects of technical theatre, including scenic construction, lighting, sound, costuming, stage management, and production safety.
Supervise and guide students in developing technical skills necessary for theatre production.
Coordinate with the spring production Technical Director and Theatre Program Coordinator to integrate student learning/projects into black-box production work.
Maintain a safe and organized scene shop and ensure proper care and maintenance of all technical theatre equipment.
Job Requirements:
MA/MFA in Theatre, or a related field. Plus, professional experience in technical theatre.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to teach and mentor students in a diverse and collaborative academic environment.
Knowledge of industry safety standards and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
MFA in Theatre Design, or a related field.
Significant professional experience in technical theatre, with demonstrated expertise in the various technical sub-areas.
Previous teaching experience, particularly at the college or university level.

Additional Information:
Salary: $1,397.00 per credit hour
