The Building Operations Manager provides stewardship, planning, supervision, and coordination of facilities and security throughout Yale Schwarzman Center, and is responsible for ensuring timely response to facilities and security emergencies on a 24- hour/7 day a week basis.
The BOM anticipates and balances the needs of a multi-venue space used for artistic productions, University events, and dining, supporting the operations of the Center and by extension, artistic productions and University events, through the lens of facilities, safety, and security. The BOM, maintains expertise on building/facility systems and infrastructure to assure safety and code compliance and to minimize impact of repairs and construction projects on program uses.
The BOM reports to the Deputy Director and works closely with the production team and visitor services manager to understand the needs of, and to develop and execute plans for, all production and event space use, accessibility, maintenance, renovation, and furnishing. This role coordinates closely with Yale Hospitality’s operations staff and Yale Facilities, and represents the Center as lead on facilities and capital projects that require project management and/or design/architecture services.
The BOM is the Center’s primary liaison with Yale security/police and public safety, the University fire marshal, emergency management, and environmental health & safety. The BOM role is responsible for the development, staff training, and implementation of safety and security policies and procedures across all activities in the Center, maintains campus relationships required to do so, and stays abreast of security trends and practices in similar centers.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in facilities or building operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
