Scholar Athletes Leadership Academy (SALA) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Math Educator to join our dynamic teaching team. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment, where students are encouraged to develop a deep understanding and appreciation for mathematics. The Math Educator will be responsible for teaching students, assessing progress, and collaborating with colleagues to enhance the academic experience of all students.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction:
Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging math lessons for students across grade levels (Elementary/Intermediate/High School), ensuring alignment with state and national math standards.
Employ a variety of teaching strategies and tools (including technology and hands-on activities) to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with different learning styles and abilities.
Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning in students.
Provide additional support and enrichment opportunities for students who may require extra assistance or advanced challenges.
Curriculum and Assessment:
Develop and implement a rigorous math curriculum that aligns with school standards and fosters a deep understanding of core mathematical concepts.
Design and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
Use data from assessments to adjust instructional strategies and interventions to ensure student success.
Classroom Management:
Create and maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and student engagement.
Implement effective classroom management techniques to minimize disruptions and maximize student learning time.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
Work collaboratively with other educators and staff to plan interdisciplinary lessons and activities.
Participate in school-wide initiatives, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and support student learning.
Maintain open communication with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding student progress and behavior.
Student Support:
Provide individualized or small group instruction as needed to help students who are struggling with specific mathematical concepts.
Assist in creating and maintaining an inclusive environment that supports students with diverse needs, including those with learning disabilities.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (required).
Teaching certification (required) or eligibility for certification in the appropriate subject area.
Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field (preferred).
Experience:
Previous teaching experience in mathematics at the high school level (preferred).
Experience with differentiated instruction and using data to inform teaching practices (preferred).
Familiarity with using educational technology and tools (such as interactive whiteboards, math software, and learning management systems).
Skills:
Strong knowledge of math content and pedagogical techniques for effective teaching.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for engaging with students, parents, and colleagues.
Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student growth.
A passion for teaching and helping students succeed academically and personally.
Working Conditions:
Part-time position, flexible hours (12-20 hours per week, up to a 4 hour shift, 10am-2pm).
Work schedule aligned with school hours.
