What You’ll Do: As the Manager of Transmission System Planning, you’ll be at the forefront of developing and executing strategic plans for our transmission system. You will direct the system planning team, oversee comprehensive analyses and assessments, and collaborate closely with our member cooperatives and regulatory entities. You will also ensure alignment with NERC Reliability Standards, ERCOT protocols, and Brazos planning procedures. This role represents our cooperative in ERCOT working groups, supports key projects, and champions system reliability, growth, and sustainable infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Analysis
Lead steady-state and dynamic analyses using PSSE, PowerWorld, or other advanced modeling tools.
Direct operating studies, providing insights and recommendations to enhance system reliability.
Foster innovation by identifying and implementing new methods for planning future system growth.
Reporting & Budgeting
Oversee the creation of near- and long-term transmission planning assessments and five-year construction work plans.
Develop comprehensive five-year transmission and member extension budgets grounded in engineering and economic analysis, and member input.
Stakeholder & Member Collaboration
Represent the cooperative in ERCOT committees, task forces, and Public Utility Commission hearings as needed.
Coordinate and lead annual planning meetings with member cooperatives, ensuring a proactive approach to planning, scheduling, and system evaluation.
Manage the preparation of member status reports, including detailed analyses on transformer loading and power factors.
Operational Agreements & Supervision
Oversee the establishment and maintenance of study and interconnection agreements with entities connecting to the Brazos Electric system.
Drive department goals by guiding, training, and developing team members, managing budgets, and recommending staffing and structure adjustments to meet evolving needs.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering, with a preference for Electrical Engineering.
Experience: Minimum 10 years in a progressively responsible engineering role, with expertise in transmission system planning within an electric utility.
Licensure: Texas Registration as a Professional Engineer.
