Position Summary
The State Pre-College Enrichment Program (S-PREP) is a free high school and college preparation program for 7th -12th grade students who reside in New York City. The objective of the program is to increase the number of underrepresented students pursuing careers in healthcare or related STEM professions. The program offers academic enrichment courses that are designed to prepare students for success in math and science. The program also offers career development workshops, college advisement services, field trips and college tours.
Preceptors for the S-PREP program will lead math and science courses for middle and high school students. Program participants come from diverse backgrounds and generally have varying academic skill sets. This is a great opportunity to exercise curriculum construction, establishing/executing course instruction and differentiation skills. Course offerings will include, but may not be limited to Algebra, Biology, Chemistry, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, Anatomy & Computer Science. Class sessions will be held on Saturdays in the morning & afternoon throughout the duration of the program year.
Responsibilities
Preceptors will report to the S-PREP Program Administrators within the Office of Student Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
??? Supporting the preparation of program sessions including classes, special events and other program related activities ??? Facilitating class sessions for assigned course(s) based on provided syllabus and course blueprint. If updates are made, provide new course materials to program administrators. ??? Preparing a course description, outlining the goals and objectives as well as prerequisites for assigned course(s) in alignment with provided syllabus/course blueprint. ??? Assisting with the assessment of students??? academic performance by administering quizzes and exams following provided examples. ??? Providing feedback regarding students??? participation for bi-annual evaluations ??? Monitoring student attendance for respective course(s) ??? Attending all special program events including opening and closing ceremonies as well as college tours, field trips & conferences ??? Providing recommendations for program improvements ??? Completing administrative/clerical duties as assigned

High School Diploma
Preferred Qualifications
Full-time CUIMC students are preferred.
Other Requirements
Education and training in science and/or mathematics.
Demonstration of leadership and organization skills.
